Chicago Bulls' Nikola Mirotic hospitalized after fight with teammate Bobby Portis
It's day 1.
According to Shams Charania at The Vertical Chicago Bulls forwards Nikola Mirotic and Bobby Portis got into a scrap during practice Tuesday that sent Mirotic to the hospital. He's now been "sidelined indefinitely." Apparently Portis landed a cheap shot to the face of Mirotic after a brief shoving match.
Now in his fourth season, the 6'10 Mirotic was expected to be the Bulls' starting power forward after signing a two-year, $27 million extension with the Bulls this summer. A former 22nd overall pick from the Bulls in 2015, Portis averaged just 6.8 points and 4.6 boards in his second season.
According to USA TODAY's Jeff Zillgitt Mirotic will likely need surgery.
