Eagles confirm Carson Wentz has a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season
Welp, it's official.
Philadelphia Eagles QB and MVP candidate Carson Wentz has officially been diagnosed with a torn left ACL. Eagles head coach Doug Pederson broke the news Monday morning.
Pederson didn't have any long-term medical insight into the injury but hammered home that the Eagles still have a lot to play for.
"We just came off a tremendous victory to win the NFL East," says Pederson. "Guys are riding extremely high. It's a little bittersweet, but you know what? We've got the Giants this week. We've got an opportunity. If you win Sunday you get a first-round bye."
Wentz went down during a third-quarter red zone series when he dove into the end zone. The play was called back due to holding but Wentz somehow managed to remain on the field long enough to hit Alshon Jeffery a few plays later.
The Eagles clinched the NFL East with the win over the Los Angeles Rams, but limp into the post-season with Nick Foles as the new starter.
