The Spotlight: Don't worry, Edgar Wright says he's directing the 'Baby Driver' sequel
Back in early December Baby Driver director Edgar Wright admitted he wasn't exactly sure how involved he'd be in a possible sequel.
Wright told Entertainment Weekly that talks were underway with Sony and that he hoped to pen the new script at the very least.
Speaking with MTV's Josh Horowitz at the Golden Globes, Wright now confirms he'd be the only director in consideration for a Baby Driver follow-up.
"We haven't quite done the deal yet but I have lots of ideas," says Wright. "I know, basically, what it's about and who it involves and where it goes. So that's exciting."
Asked about plans to direct, Wright scoffed at the idea of someone else handling his baby (I'm sorry).
"Oh yea," Wright assured. "If I wrote it, yea. I'm not going to spend six months writing it and then not direct it. I'm a British person so my default setting is cautious."
Nominated for his performance in the surprise hit, star Ansel Elgort remarked that the second installment will very much resemble the first.
"I think Edgar just needs to write a dope-ass sequel and then we're ready to go," says Elgort. "It's similar. It'll be cool."
