The 'Aquaman' trailer is real and it's spectacular

Pretty big day for the folks at Warner Bros.

After dropping a stunning first trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, WB gave us our first real glimpse of James Wan's Aquaman. After years of handwringing from fans on how Wan would handle the underwater look, DC loyalists can rest easy.

Wan seems to have found a perfect balance of texture with clarity which never overburdens you with the water. I was worried the setting would be blurry and distracting and I'm pleasantly surprised it's not the case.

Here's the official synopsis:

Following the events of Justice League, Arthur Curry, the reluctant ruler of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, is caught in a battle between surface dwellers that threaten his oceans and his own people, who are ready to lash out and invade the surface.

Aquaman hits theaters December 21, 2018.
